When the rider turns 17 years old the CBT certificate will cover them to ride a 125cc machine while the certificate is still valid for its two year period.

Anyone doing CBT on an automatic would have to repeat CBT if they wanted to change to a geared motorcycle at a later date. If at 19 years old they wanted to move up to category A2 they could do an upgrade CBT as long as their original certificate was still in force.
